From October 2021, although the idents had a stay of execution, the accompanying oneness stings or blips were all dropped. In their place were a series of very similar graphical efforts, with hints of circles present. These would often be attached to trailers, but sometimes appeared by itself in junctions too.

With iPlayer being an increasingly important outlet for the BBC over their traditional broadcast channels, a trailer with the refreshed branding for the online service was one of the first things to air in the 6am BBC One junction on Octobe 20th.

Though it had by now been announced (and even began tentative rollout on some platforms) that regional BBC One HD would be coming, it wasn't in place for the October 2021 refresh. As such the previous slide for filling regional slots on the HD channel which was made up of shots of the idents was replaced with a new and much simpler graphical creation.

Although initially new idents were being worked on for the October 20th corporation-wide BBC rebrand, at a very late stage they were deemed unready and re-edits of the existing idents were made instead removing the 'Oneness' tagline. The first ident of the refreshed look was an updated version of the Dog Walkers at 6am. As a preview of what would be the case for some time to come, immediately after the first new logo-ident we were into the old-logo for Breakfast.

For the 11.15 junction on October 20th, the first divergence between the nations was seen. With BBC One network repeating the Volunteer Lifeguards ident, while the other three nations opted to a refreshed version of one of the 'Under 7 Footballers' idents for the first time. BBC Three hadn't relaunched as a standalone channel by the time of the October 2021 refresh, however a selection of their programmes were still airing on Monday nights on BBC One.
